Our Story

Who are we?

We are a cute little couple from Melbourne's south east suburbs, a photographer and a hairdresser dedicated to embracing the full extent of our life force.

Sustainability and eco awareness are our top priority, with steps in place to assure we have a positive impact on this earth and its people.

An Message On Sustainability:

We want to be completely transparent with you. Here at Athera Crystals we pride ourselves on supplying the best quality products possible and we do this by having the knowledge necessary to tell the difference.

Many other brands out there claim to be eco friendly and ethically sourced when in reality, they only know what they've been told by a middle man. We cut that process out entirely, in fact, we actually mine, cut and polish a lot of our material ourselves.

We aren't caught up on how much money we're making, it's actually the opposite. We care about how much you're spending and what you're getting for that price.

We believe that it is truly important that we give back to Mother Nature, more than what we take, otherwise what impact did we really even have other than a negative one. This being said, for every $10 you spend on our store, we will donate a tree to be planted in a bushfire affected region of Australia.

We simply want to share with you all of the beautiful crystals and minerals we have come across over generations of collecting.

Why Did We Start Athera Crystals?

From a child, I was raised into the gemology community by my father being a well known gemologist and wholesale supplier across the globe. I was taken along for the ride very early on, attending gem and mineral shows all around Australia.

As I grew up, I started to lean away from gems and Dad’s business, with ambitions to pave the road ahead of me by myself. I made the decision to attend university and further my own interest in Photography. During the course, I started to slowly fall back into Dad’s career, working with him as he leased a mine to begin digging a stone he discovered in 1985, Rainbow Lattice Sunstone.

Not long after, I met my partner and she fell head over heels in love with Dad’s work in gems and minerals. We made a decision to start a business and share with the world all of the material Dad has been collecting and mining for decades.

Our roots stem deep from experience, knowledge and trust. We are here to share with you some of the most amazing material the world has to offer, sharing with you the utmost aspect of knowledge and accuracy.
